Senggigi, west Lombok
★ 4.5(1,240 reviews)
The Kayana Beach Lombok is an all-villa luxury property on Senggigi's southern beachfront, with 60 private-pool villas ranging from 2,800,000 to 7,500,000 IDR per night. It delivers proper villa privacy, a quiet beach, and good food — a notch below the Oberoi on service polish but at roughly half the price, which makes it the strongest mid-luxury beachfront option in the Senggigi corridor.
# The Kayana Beach Lombok: Adult-Couple Villa Beachfront
The Kayana Beach Lombok sits on the southern Mangsit beachfront, about 8 minutes' drive south of central Senggigi and 25 minutes north of the Mataram bypass. It opened in 2014 as the sister property to The Kayana Bali in Seminyak and has settled into a steady spot as the Senggigi corridor's strongest mid-luxury option.
Indonesian-owned, locally-managed, and clearly aimed at couples. The marketing materials lean honeymoon and the villa layout (king bed, bathtub, plunge pool, no obvious twin configuration) reinforces that. Families can stay but the property doesn't try to entertain children.
All units are villas. Garden Pool Villas (entry tier, 2,800,000–4,000,000 IDR) are walled compounds with a 3x6m plunge pool, indoor-outdoor living area, and a private courtyard. Beachfront Pool Villas (4,500,000–6,000,000 IDR) sit one row back from the sand with the same footprint plus a beach-facing terrace. Royal Beach Pool Villas (6,000,000–7,500,000 IDR) are larger end units with full ocean view and an extended deck.
For most couples the Garden Pool Villa delivers 80% of the experience at 60% of the price — you walk 90 seconds to the beach either way. Pay up only if direct ocean view from the bed matters.
Mangsit is the southern extension of Senggigi — quieter, less developed, but the same coastline. From The Kayana: 8 minutes to central Senggigi for restaurants and bars, 25 minutes to Mataram for shopping, 30 minutes to Bangsal harbour for Gili ferries, 75 minutes to Lombok International Airport, 90 minutes to Kuta Lombok.
The location is a genuine strength for the Gili-and-Senggigi traveller and a genuine weakness for anyone wanting Kuta surf — Kuta is too far for day trips.
The food operation is solid without being exceptional. The main restaurant runs a wide Indonesian-Western menu (mains 150,000–350,000 IDR) and the beachfront grill leans seafood at slightly higher prices. Breakfast is the strongest meal — properly fresh, generous, served in either the main dining room or your villa.
The spa is well-designed with five treatment rooms and a couples suite, but pricing has crept above what the experience delivers. A 90-minute traditional massage runs 1,000,000–1,500,000 IDR; comparable quality at independent Senggigi spas runs 350,000–500,000 IDR. Use the Kayana spa for the convenience, not the value.
The infinity pool on the beachfront deck is the property's signature feature — long, narrow, infinity edge straight onto the beach, and lit at sunset. This is where most guests spend their afternoons, and it photographs better than the in-villa plunge pools.
Service is warm and attentive but not Oberoi-precise. Staff are friendly and remember names; turnaround on requests is fast; minor English misses occasionally. The overall feel is closer to a well-run independent than a chain — which most guests prefer at this price.
Some operational quirks: the entry-tier Garden Pool Villas closest to the road can pick up scooter noise after 10pm — request a villa toward the beach if quiet sleep matters. Wi-Fi degrades in the furthest villa rows; bring a hotspot if you need to work. The road-side gate is unmanned at night and feels slightly insecure on first impression, though there are no reports of issues.
Book The Kayana for honeymoons, anniversaries, romantic getaways, or any couple's trip where you want a private villa with a pool, a quiet beachfront, and a 5-minute drive to Senggigi's restaurant scene. It's also a strong base for Gili day trips without the Bangsal-area commitment.
Skip The Kayana if you're travelling with kids who want a kids' club, if you want full international five-star service (book Oberoi instead), or if your trip centres on Kuta Lombok and the south coast — you're 90 minutes too far north.
