Senggigi, west Lombok
★ 4.4(3,120 reviews)
Sheraton Senggigi Beach Resort is the longest-running 5-star property in Senggigi — a 154-room beachfront resort directly on Senggigi's main beach with two large free-form pools, three restaurants, a full spa, and Marriott Bonvoy points eligibility. Expect 1.8–4.2 million IDR/night depending on room and season. Best for travellers who want a self-contained beachfront resort with reliable international standards in a walkable beach town.
# Sheraton Senggigi Beach Resort: The Established West Coast Choice
Sheraton Senggigi Beach Resort opened in the early 1990s and remains the longest-running international 5-star property on Lombok's west coast. After multiple refurbishments and a major post-earthquake refresh in 2019–2020, it sits in 2026 as the default choice for travellers who want a Marriott-standard beachfront resort within a walkable beach town rather than the isolated luxury of Sire or Mandalika.
The resort is operated under the Sheraton banner of Marriott International, with 154 rooms spread across a beachfront main building and several lower-rise garden wings. The architecture leans into Sasak motifs — thatched alang-alang roofs, carved wood panels, traditional bale pavilions — wrapped around two large free-form pools and a long stretch of private beach frontage. Most public spaces look out toward the Lombok Strait and the silhouette of Bali's Mount Agung on clear afternoons.
Five main categories. Deluxe Garden View rooms (the entry level) sit in the lower garden wings with balconies facing tropical landscaping. Deluxe Pool View rooms face the larger of the two pools. Deluxe Ocean View rooms are in the main building with sea-facing balconies — the sweet-spot category for most guests. Suites add a separate living area and the higher-floor Ocean Front Suites add larger terraces. Two-bedroom Family Suites work well for families of four.
Best room to book: Deluxe Ocean View on a higher floor of the main building. The garden bungalows are charming but show their age more than the main-building rooms, which were more thoroughly refreshed in 2020.
Senggigi sits roughly 1.5 hours by road from Lombok International Airport (LOP) — the resort arranges private transfers at 450,000–550,000 IDR. From Sheraton you can walk in either direction along the beachfront in about 5–10 minutes to reach Senggigi's main strip of restaurants, warungs, and the Pasar Seni art market. Bangsal harbour for Gili boats is a 45-minute drive north. Mataram city and the airport are south.
The resort runs a free shuttle into Senggigi town centre several times a day, useful in the evenings if you don't want to walk along the unlit beach road.
What works: the beachfront is real and the pool–beach geography is excellent for families. Service quality is the standout — many staff have been with the property for 15+ years and the warmth is unscripted. Breakfast at Bumbu is one of the better hotel buffets on the island, with proper Indonesian breakfast options alongside the usual Western spread. Marriott Bonvoy elites get genuine value: complimentary breakfast, suite upgrades when available, and lounge access for Platinum and above.
What doesn't: the property's age shows in some areas. Garden-wing bathrooms in particular feel dated even after the refurb. WiFi in the main building is fine but signal weakens noticeably in the garden bungalows furthest from the lobby — request a main-building room if you need to work. F&B pricing follows international resort norms, meaning a Bintang at the beach bar costs 75,000 IDR versus 25,000 IDR at a warung 5 minutes away. Most guests do breakfast on-property and dinner in town.
Senggigi as a destination has been quieter since the 2018 Lombok earthquake; some restaurants and bars never reopened. The town is recovering but doesn't have the buzz of Kuta or the Gilis. If you want nightlife, this isn't the right base.
Book Sheraton if you want a reliable international 5-star with real beachfront in a walkable beach town, if you collect Marriott Bonvoy points, if you're travelling with kids and want pool–beach proximity, or if you want a base for both Senggigi day trips and Gili Islands excursions without committing to staying on the islands.
Skip it if you want the energy of Kuta Lombok or Trawangan, if you prioritise design-forward boutique stays over resort comfort, or if you're allergic to the slightly-dated feel that any 25-year-old property carries no matter how many refurbs it logs.
