★ 4.7(2,410 reviews)
Qunci Villas is a 90-room boutique villa resort in Mangsit, 10 minutes north of Senggigi, with three infinity pools (one beachfront), a much-loved restaurant, and a calm adults-leaning atmosphere. Expect 2.2–6.5 million IDR/night. The most-recommended west-coast boutique stay for couples — design-led, beautifully landscaped, and refreshingly unfussy.
# Qunci Villas: The West Coast's Boutique Standard-Bearer
Qunci Villas opened in 2007 and quietly grew from a small villa cluster into the most-recommended boutique property on Lombok's west coast. In 2026 it sits as the default choice for couples and design-conscious travellers who want boutique sophistication without the extreme price tag of Tugu or The Oberoi — and without the conventional resort feel of Sheraton or Holiday Resort just down the road.
90 villas and rooms spread across a beachfront property in Mangsit, the quiet residential strip 10 minutes north of Senggigi proper. The architecture is contemporary minimalist — clean lines, polished concrete, dark wood, white linens — combined with lush tropical landscaping and three infinity pools. The headline pool is the 50-metre lap pool that sits directly behind the beach, with daybeds and a small bar at one end. Quali Restaurant, the resort's main dining room, has independently built a reputation as one of Lombok's better restaurants.
Five main categories. Superior Rooms are the entry-level option — large, well-designed, garden-facing. Pool Access Suites open directly onto one of the secondary pools. One-Bedroom Pool Villas have private plunge pools and walled gardens. Two-Bedroom Pool Villas suit families with older kids or two couples travelling together. Beachfront Suites are in the main building with sea-view terraces and are the most-requested category.
Best room to book: a Beachfront Suite if it fits the budget, or a One-Bedroom Pool Villa for privacy. Avoid the few Pool Access Suites that face the perimeter road — confirm orientation when booking.
Mangsit is a 10-minute drive north of Senggigi town centre. Unlike Holiday Resort next door, Qunci doesn't run a regular shuttle — most guests either walk along the beach to the small cluster of Mangsit warungs (5–10 minutes), book a Grab car, or simply eat at Quali. Lombok International Airport (LOP) is 1 hour 40 minutes south by car — the resort arranges transfers at 600,000–700,000 IDR. Bangsal harbour for Gili boats is 35 minutes north.
What works: the design and atmosphere. Qunci feels designed, not assembled — the public spaces flow well, the landscaping is genuinely thoughtful, and the beachfront pool at sunset is one of the best resort images on Lombok. Quali Restaurant is the unexpected highlight: a serious kitchen with a daily-changing menu, a strong wine list (rare on Lombok), and prices roughly half what Bali equivalents charge. Service is calibrated for the boutique price point — staff know guest names by day two, recommendations are unscripted, and check-in actually happens at your villa.
What doesn't: this isn't a family resort. There's no kids club, the layout assumes adult guests, and small children would be unhappy quickly. Older kids (10+) and teens are fine and welcome. Some villas in the Pool Access category face the perimeter road and pick up traffic noise — always confirm villa orientation when booking and request a garden-facing or beach-facing unit.
The black-sand beach surprises some guests; it's calm and clean but not the white sand of the Gilis. WiFi is good in the villas and main areas but weakens at the far end of the property near the third pool.
Book Qunci if you're a couple looking for boutique sophistication on the west coast, if you care about design and food as much as the beach, if you want a calm adults-leaning atmosphere without going to a kids-banned property, or if you want a sunset-and-pool stay where the property itself is part of the holiday.
Skip Qunci if you have young children and need a kids club, if you want a busy resort with constant activity programming, or if you'd rather pay less and stay at the well-run-but-conventional Holiday Resort 200 metres away.
