Ethereal multi-strand waterfall in a mossy ravine

Benang Stokel is one of Lombok's most unique waterfalls — rather than a single cascade, it consists of dozens of thin streams of water trickling down a moss-covered cliff face, creating an ethereal, almost magical atmosphere. The waterfall is located in the highlands above Tetebatu in Central Lombok, surrounded by dense tropical forest that keeps the area cool even on the hottest days. The name "Benang Stokel" translates roughly to "threads" — an apt description of the delicate water streams. The walk from the parking area to the waterfall takes about 20 minutes through well-maintained paths and staircases, making it much more accessible than Tiu Kelep. You can walk behind the waterfall curtain and stand in a natural grotto — an incredible experience and photo opportunity. The pool at the base is shallow but refreshing for wading. Entry fee is IDR 10,000 for foreigners. There is a second waterfall nearby called Benang Kelambu, accessible via a short additional hike — it is worth doing both. The area around the waterfalls has been developed with proper walking paths, rest areas, and a small warung selling drinks and snacks. The drive from Mataram takes about 90 minutes. Visit on weekdays to avoid domestic tourist crowds. Bring insect repellent — the jungle humidity attracts mosquitoes.
