Dive the Secret Gilis' pristine reefs with the only local operator

Lombok Dive is the only dedicated dive operation in the Sekotong area, and their access to the Secret Gilis' underwater world is reason enough to make the trip to this remote corner of Southwest Lombok. The Secret Gilis — a chain of small islands including Gili Nanggu, Gili Sudak, Gili Kedis, and Gili Layar — have pristine, untrafficked reefs that are arguably in better condition than anything around the main Gili islands. The reason is simple: almost nobody dives here. On a typical day at the Secret Gilis, you might be the only divers in the water, dropping into crystal-clear visibility onto reefs teeming with clownfish, butterflyfish, nudibranch, reef sharks, octopus, and healthy hard and soft coral formations. Turtle encounters are routine. The lack of diver traffic means the marine life is less habituated and behaves more naturally — an underwater photographer's dream. Lombok Dive is run by Pierre, a French divemaster who fell in love with Sekotong's waters a decade ago and never left. He knows every site intimately and tailors each dive to the group's interests and skill level. Fun dives cost IDR 700,000 for two tanks (slightly higher than the Gilis due to longer boat rides and fuel costs), including full equipment and boat. PADI courses are available: Open Water IDR 6,000,000, Discover Scuba IDR 1,000,000. Snorkeling trips for non-divers can be combined with dive trips (IDR 350,000 per person including equipment). The dive center is based at Cocotinos Resort but welcomes non-guests. Book at least one day ahead via WhatsApp.
