Tanjung, northwest Lombok
★ 4.8(380 reviews)
The Lombok Lodge is an adult-only seven-suite boutique hotel on the northwest coast of Lombok in Tanjung, near Medana Beach. Suites run 1,800,000–3,500,000 IDR per night and the property pairs a small footprint with infinity pool, beachfront, and one of the best chef-managed restaurants on the island. It punches above its mid-range price band and works as a quiet alternative to the larger luxury resorts in the same area.
# The Lombok Lodge Tanjung: Adult-Only Boutique on the Northwest Coast
The Lombok Lodge is one of Lombok's most distinctive small properties — a seven-suite adult-only boutique hotel that has built a reputation for personal service and chef-managed food well beyond what its size would suggest.
The Lodge was developed by a Dutch-Indonesian family with a hospitality background and opened in 2014. The owners are present on-site for most of the year and personally manage the food programme, which is why the dining experience consistently outperforms the property's size.
The seven-suite footprint is intentional. Each suite is large, well-spaced, and the staff-to-guest ratio is high — typically 2:1 in any week.
Two main categories. Garden Suites are the entry option (1,800,000–2,400,000 IDR) — large standalone units with king beds, outdoor showers, and private terraces opening onto the garden. Beachfront Suites face the sea directly with terraces a few metres from the high-tide line (2,800,000–3,500,000 IDR).
For 2-night stays, the Garden Suites deliver a strong boutique experience at a meaningful saving. For honeymoons, anniversaries, or longer stays, the Beachfront Suites are worth the upgrade — sea-facing terraces with sunset views are the property's defining experience.
The Lombok Lodge is in Tanjung, on the northwest coast about 5 minutes south of Medana Beach (where The Oberoi Lombok is) and 30 minutes north of Senggigi village. The position is genuinely quiet — Tanjung is a small village with very little commercial activity, and the property's beachfront has almost no foot traffic.
For Gili Islands access the Lodge can arrange private boat charters from the property's beach (around 2,000,000 IDR return for up to 6 guests), or the 20-minute drive to Bangsal harbour. Lombok International Airport is 90 minutes south.
The food is the property's defining feature. The restaurant is owner-managed and runs a seasonal menu that rotates every few weeks based on what's available locally and at Mataram's wholesale fish market. Mains run 200,000–450,000 IDR — not cheap, but the quality genuinely justifies the prices and the alternatives within driving distance are mostly hotel restaurants with chain-resort menus.
Breakfast is included and is excellent — properly cooked à la carte options, fresh fruit, pastries baked on-site, smoothies. Lunch service is lighter (sandwiches, salads, rice bowls). Dinner is a 4-course set menu with one or two choices per course; advance notification of dietary requirements is appreciated.
Suites are large and beautifully built. Strong air-con, hot showers, in-room safes, premium beds (genuinely high-quality mattresses and linens), reliable Wi-Fi, and proper outdoor showers in private gardens for all categories. Bathrooms are stone-finished and well-maintained. Terraces are large enough for breakfast service, sunset cocktails, and outdoor dining.
The infinity pool is small but beautifully positioned overlooking the sea. With only seven suites it never gets crowded — typically you have it to yourself or share with one other couple. Sun loungers around the pool are plentiful.
There is no on-site spa. The Lodge partners with a spa at a nearby property for in-room treatments at 800,000–1,500,000 IDR for 90 minutes. For more substantial spa programmes, day trips to The Oberoi or Tugu Lombok spas are arranged.
The adult-only policy (guests 16+) is strict and is the property's most-requested feature for couples seeking quiet. Combined with the seven-suite footprint, the property genuinely delivers the calm that most "couples retreats" merely market.
Service is the other standout. With seven suites and 14+ staff, requests get handled fast and staff know guests by name within hours of check-in. The concierge can arrange snorkel trips, Gili charters, Senggigi excursions, and onward transfers.
Book here if you want a quiet adult-only boutique with exceptional food, you're a couple on a 3+ night honeymoon or anniversary trip, and you value personal service over chain-resort scale. Strong for couples who want to feel like they're the only people on the property and who eat dinner in two or three nights of the week.
Skip if you're travelling with children (adult-only), if you want extensive spa or fitness facilities (no on-site spa or gym), or if you want walking-distance restaurant variety (The Lodge's restaurant is the only walkable dinner option).
