OneWorld Ayurveda is Lombok's only authentic Ayurvedic retreat — Indian-run with qualified Ayurvedic doctors offering 7–14 day Panchakarma programs (18–35M IDR) at the foot of Mt. Rinjani in Tetebatu. Treatment-focused medical wellness, not yoga retreat with Ayurveda-flavored extras.
# OneWorld Ayurveda Tetebatu: Authentic Ayurveda in Lombok
Most "Ayurvedic" offerings in Indonesia and Bali are Westernized adaptations — yoga retreats with an Ayurvedic massage on the menu, spas offering Shirodhara as one option among many. OneWorld Ayurveda is different. It's an Ayurvedic medical center that happens to be located in Tetebatu, run by Indian Ayurvedic doctors, offering full traditional Panchakarma programs.
This is treatment-focused medical wellness. Not yoga retreat with Ayurveda extras. Not luxury spa with Ayurvedic massage option. The full traditional protocol — dosha consultation, personalized treatment plan, daily medical-grade treatments, restricted diet, doctor follow-up.
Panchakarma is the cornerstone Ayurvedic detoxification protocol. It involves:
1. Purvakarma (preparation) — oil massage and herbal steam to mobilize toxins
2. Pradhanakarma (main detox) — five cleansing procedures (some intensive, like therapeutic vomiting and enema; OneWorld typically uses gentler variants)
3. Paschatkarma (rejuvenation) — rebuilding strength through nutrition, herbs, and gradual reintroduction of normal activity
Programs at OneWorld are 7 or 14 days (genuine Panchakarma traditionally needs 14–21 days for full effect; 7-day programs are introductory). Treatments and diet are personalized based on doctor consultation on day 1.
Two Indian Ayurvedic doctors with formal BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) qualifications from Indian universities. Each handles 4–6 patients at a time, with daily consultations during your program. This is genuine medical practice, not spa technician work.
The doctors will ask about: medical history, current medications, sleep patterns, digestion, energy levels, mental state. They'll determine your dosha (Vata, Pitta, Kapha, or combination), identify imbalances, and design a treatment protocol. The consultation takes 60–90 minutes on day 1.
7-day Panchakarma intensive: 18–22M IDR per person, twin share
14-day Full Panchakarma: 32–35M IDR per person, twin share
Single supplement: +35%. Programs require fixed Sunday arrival.
Strict and personalized to your dosha. Generally:
If you have strong food preferences or struggle with restrictive diets, this program will be harder than expected. The diet is medicinal — designed to support detoxification, not for enjoyment. Most participants describe craving normal food by day 4–5, then experiencing relief and clarity by day 7.
Property has 8 garden bungalows, twin and king bed configurations. Bungalows are simple — bamboo construction, fan-cooled (no air-con — Ayurvedic principle of avoiding artificial environments), private bathroom with hot water. The bungalows fit the medical-retreat aesthetic: clean, comfortable, not luxurious.
Common spaces: doctor's consultation rooms, treatment rooms, dining hall, yoga shala, garden walking paths, small library of Ayurvedic texts.
Abhyanga — full body warm oil massage by 1 or 2 therapists, 60–90 minutes. Done daily. Different oils based on dosha.
Shirodhara — continuous warm oil stream poured on the forehead for 30–45 minutes. Genuinely transformative for most participants.
Nasya — herbal oil drops in the nasal passages, followed by massage. Clears sinus and head tension.
Swedana — herbal steam, often after Abhyanga.
Internal protocols (longer programs only) — Virechana (purgation) or gentle Basti (medicated enema). These sound intense and are; they're done under doctor supervision with proper preparation and recovery.
Book OneWorld if you're genuinely interested in Ayurveda as a medical system, not as a luxury experience. Book if you have specific health goals — chronic stress, sleep issues, digestive problems, post-illness recovery — that Ayurveda traditionally addresses. Book if you can commit to the full restrictive program for 7 or 14 days.
Skip OneWorld if you want a relaxation retreat (this is medical detox, not vacation). Skip if you can't tolerate dietary restrictions for a week or more. Skip if you want flexibility in scheduling (Sunday-only check-in is rigid). Skip if your budget excludes 18M IDR minimum entry.
For yoga-focused retreat or general wellness, Ashtari Kuta or Sembalun Highland are better fits. For authentic Ayurvedic medicine in a beautiful Lombok setting, OneWorld is genuinely the only option.
