Sea Pearl Gili Trawangan

Sea Pearl is on the main road through central Gili Trawangan, opposite Pearl Beach Resort and a few doors from Pesona Cafe. The shop has a small but professional storefront with sealed display cases (not bowls of loose strings on a table — that's the imitation shops). The signage clearly identifies it as a certified pearl shop with certificate-of-authenticity branding.

Smaller than the Mataram showrooms but covers the essential range:

• Loose South Sea pearls — 8–13mm, white/silver/gold, AA and AAA grades. Roughly 80–120 pieces in stock at any time.
• Pre-strung 18-inch strands — 5–10 examples typically in stock; if you want a specific size or color combination not displayed, the shop arranges from Mataram in 24–48 hours.
• Ready-made earring sets — 30+ designs in 18k gold and silver settings.
• Pendants and rings — 50+ designs.
• Tahitian and Akoya — small selection, clearly labeled as imported.

For larger inventory comparison, you'd want to visit the Mataram showrooms — but for "I want a nice pair of South Sea pearl earrings to take home," Sea Pearl has plenty.

Sea Pearl uses fixed pricing identical to its Mataram parent. There's no Gili island markup, which surprises some buyers expecting tourist-island inflation. Sample reference prices:

If you see what you want in the case, you take it home that day with a certificate of authenticity for purchases above 2.5M IDR. If you want a specific custom configuration (custom-strung strand, custom setting), the shop coordinates with the Mataram workshop:

• Custom strand restringing — 24 hours if pearls are in stock.
• Pre-made setting with your chosen pearl — 2 days.
• Full custom setting — 5–7 days, requires shipping to Mataram and back.

Sea Pearl is the certified shop on Gili Trawangan, affiliated with one of the established Mataram pearl trader families. To confirm you're at the right place:

• Sealed display cases with proper jewelry presentation, not open bowls.
• Certificate-of-authenticity branding visible.
• Grading conversation — staff can talk through luster, surface, shape, size, color, nacre.
• Fixed printed prices on each piece.

If a "pearl shop" on Gili Trawangan does not have these features and quotes opening prices in the 200–500k IDR range for "South Sea" strands, it is not selling real South Sea pearls.

Boat to Gili Trawangan: Public boat from Bangsal harbor 25 minutes (~25k IDR), fast boat from Padang Bai or Serangan in Bali ~2 hours (~600–900k IDR), private speedboat charter from Bangsal ~30 minutes (~500k IDR).

Shop location: Walking distance from any Gili Trawangan accommodation (the island is small).

Hours: Daily 10am to 9pm. Evening hours are useful for post-dinner browsing — the air-conditioned shop is a relief from the hot main strip.

Payment: IDR or USD cash preferred. Cards accepted with 4% surcharge (higher than Mataram because of island banking costs). ATMs are available 100m down the road.

Visit Sea Pearl if you're already on Gili Trawangan, want to buy real South Sea pearls, and don't want to make a separate trip back to Mataram. It's also a good evening browse during a Gili stay — the shop is open late and has air conditioning. Skip if you want maximum selection or are commissioning a complex custom piece — the Cakranegara showrooms are better for those needs.
