Senggigi main strip (south central)

Marina Pub is Senggigi's Western expat regulars' bar — a small main strip pub with imported beer selection, sport on TV, pool table, and a consistent expat resident crowd. Open 3pm to midnight. Bintang 40,000 IDR, imported beer 70–90k, decent pub food. The right call if you want to find Western residents who actually live in Lombok rather than just visit.
# Marina Pub: Senggigi's Western Expat Bar
Lombok has a small but real Western expat resident community — people who've been here years or decades, run businesses, married locally, retired here, or work in tourism, diving, or hospitality. They congregate at a handful of venues across the island, but the single most reliable place to find them is Marina Pub on the Senggigi main strip.
If you want to meet Western residents who actually know Lombok rather than tourists who just arrived, Marina Pub is the answer.
Small pub-style venue with a mix of bar seating, table seating, a pool table, and a dart board. Indoor air-conditioned space with sport on multiple TVs. Open from 3pm with the bar building through happy hour (5–7pm) into the dinner-and-drinks evening, peaking 8pm to 11pm.
Closes at midnight on most nights. Friday quiz nights occasionally run later.
Western expat residents dominate. You'll find dive shop owners and instructors from Senggigi-based operations, retired Australians and Brits living long-term in Lombok, hospitality workers (chefs, hotel managers), Indonesian-Western couples (often expat husband + Indonesian wife), and the occasional traveling Western tourist who heard about the bar.
The regulars know each other. Many have been drinking together for years. This can feel cliquey on a first visit but the regulars are generally welcoming if you sit at the bar counter and engage. The bartender knows everyone and will introduce you if you indicate interest.
For practical Lombok information — best dive shops, where to buy a motorbike, how to navigate visa runs, where to rent long-term housing — Marina Pub regulars are the best information source on the island. Two beers' worth of conversation will save you weeks of online research.
Bintang large bottle is 40,000 IDR. Imported beer is the bar's distinguishing feature: Heineken, Corona, Asahi, occasionally Stella Artois — all 70,000 to 90,000 IDR per bottle. Imported beer is genuinely hard to find in Lombok outside the high-end resort bars and Marina is the most reliable mid-tier option.
Spirits selection is solid pub-tier — proper bourbon, decent Scotch, basic gin and vodka. Wine is available but limited. Cocktails are basic; don't bother.
Happy hour 5pm to 7pm runs Bintangs at 30,000 IDR and a 2-for-1 on imported beer (effectively 35–45k each). This is the cheapest imported beer window in Lombok.
Pub menu — fish and chips (110k), pub burger (120k), beef and Guinness pie (140k), bangers and mash (130k), Caesar salad (90k), nachos (90k). On Sundays in season the pub does a roast lunch (180k for beef or pork roast with Yorkshire pudding and trimmings) which is rare in Lombok and worth the visit specifically.
Quality is honest pub food — not destination dining, but properly executed and a real comfort if you've been on a streak of nasi goreng for too many days.
Marina runs a pub quiz every Friday at 8pm. Format is general knowledge, music rounds, and a Lombok-specific local round. It's a six-team operation — the regulars dominate the leaderboard but visiting tourists are welcome to join existing teams or form new ones at the door.
The quiz is a genuine institution and the easiest way to engage with the regulars on a first visit. Sit at the bar at 7:30pm, introduce yourself to the bartender, and you'll be drafted onto a team within ten minutes.
Premier League is the main draw with multiple TVs running Saturday and Sunday matches. AFL (Australian Football League) and NRL (Australian rugby) get coverage during their seasons. International cricket and major tournaments are reliably broadcast. For Six Nations rugby and other UK-specific events, Marina is the most reliable venue in Lombok.
Senggigi's expat community is smaller than Bali's by an order of magnitude but it's real and it's stable. Marina Pub serves this community as essentially a second living room. The pub also pulls in expat residents from Mataram and even occasional visitors from the Gilis who come over for a sport match or quiz night.
For the casual tourist, Marina is one of the more authentically interesting venues in Senggigi — you're seeing the actual long-term Western expat scene in Lombok rather than tourist-facing nightlife.
Central Senggigi main strip, easy walk from any central hotel within 10 minutes. Outer hotels need a Grab at end of night (20,000–60,000 IDR depending on distance). Cash works best.
If you want to meet Western expat residents in Lombok — primary recommendation. If you want imported beer in Lombok — most reliable mid-tier source. If you want sport coverage on TV. If you want Sunday roast or honest pub food. If you want to do a Friday quiz night.
Skip Marina Pub if you want the beach-bar atmosphere (this is firmly indoor pub), if you want Indonesian crowd interaction (heavily Western), if you want late-night options (midnight close), or if you want craft cocktails (basic only).
