Kuta village, central Mandalika
★ 4.3(850 reviews)
Surfers Inn is a 28-room purpose-built surf hotel in central Kuta Lombok village, with an on-site surf school, board storage, swimming pool, and a 5-minute walk to Kuta Beach. Rooms run 700,000–1,300,000 IDR per night. It's the most surf-focused mid-range property in Kuta Lombok and the obvious pick for surf-trip travellers who want everything (lessons, gear, transfers, board storage) handled in one place.
# Surfers Inn Kuta Lombok: Purpose-Built Surf Hotel
Surfers Inn is one of a small handful of Kuta Lombok hotels that were purpose-built for surf travellers rather than retrofitted from beach-bungalow guesthouses. The result is the most surf-friendly mid-range property in the village — designed around board storage, dawn-patrol breakfast, and easy outer-spot transfers.
Surfers Inn was opened by a Brazilian-Indonesian partnership in 2017 with the explicit positioning of "the surf hotel" for Kuta Lombok's growing surf-trip market. The on-site surf school operates as part of the hotel and the staff team includes a mix of Indonesian instructors and Brazilian surf coaches.
The product is unambiguous: this is a hotel for surfers, with everything else (pool, restaurant, design) being secondary to the surf programme.
Three categories. Standard Rooms are the entry option (700,000–900,000 IDR) — air-conditioned twin or queen rooms with private bathrooms, set in the property's two-storey block. Superior Rooms are larger with pool-view balconies (900,000–1,100,000 IDR). Family/Group Rooms fit 3–4 with two double beds (1,100,000–1,300,000 IDR).
For solo surfers and couples, the Standard Rooms deliver everything you need. For groups of friends doing a surf trip together, the Family Rooms are good value compared to booking multiple Standard Rooms.
Surfers Inn is in central Kuta Lombok village, about a 5-minute walk from Kuta Beach. Most of the village's restaurants, surf shops, and bars are within a 10-minute walk. The property is set slightly back from the main road, which means less traffic noise than front-row hotels.
For surf access: Kuta Beach (walkable), Are Guling (15 min by car), Mawi (20 min), Selong Belanak (35 min), Gerupuk (15 min), Ekas (45 min). The hotel runs daily transfer trucks to Mawi, Are Guling, and Selong Belanak based on the day's swell forecast.
The surf programme is the reason to book. Lessons are 350,000 IDR for a 2-hour group lesson with board and rashie included; private lessons are 600,000 IDR for 90 minutes. Coaches are English-fluent and genuinely good — many have surfed competitively. Beginner lessons happen at Selong Belanak (gentle beach break, ideal for learning) with transport included.
For experienced surfers, the daily outer-spot transfer is the real value. Pickup at 6am or 7am depending on swell, return at 11am or 12pm. Cost is 150,000 IDR per person to Mawi or Are Guling, 250,000 IDR to Selong Belanak. Compared to scooter or rental car logistics, the convenience is significant.
Board hire is 150,000–250,000 IDR per day depending on board type. The on-site quiver covers most needs (longboards, mini-malibus, fish, performance shortboards) but advanced surfers should bring their own preferred board.
Rooms are clean and functional. Strong air-con, hot showers, in-room safes, comfortable beds, decent Wi-Fi. Bathrooms are modern. Standard Rooms are compact (around 24 sqm); Superior Rooms add a balcony.
The pool is well-maintained and useful for cooling off after morning surf sessions. It can get busy on flat days when surfers stay at the property — typically not a problem since most guests are out at dawn.
The on-site restaurant runs an all-day menu with breakfast included. The kitchen opens at 5:30am for dawn-patrol surfers — eggs, toast, oatmeal, fruit, coffee. Daytime menu is sandwiches, salads, smoothies, rice bowls (mains 70,000–150,000 IDR). Dinner is functional but most guests eat at village restaurants for variety.
Service is friendly and surfer-attuned. Front desk understands swell forecasts, knows which spot is best for which conditions, and can re-route the daily transfer based on the morning's report. The concierge handles airport transfers, scooter rental, and Mandalika tours.
Atmosphere is unambiguously a surf-trip hotel. The pool deck and restaurant are where surf-trip groups debrief sessions and plan the next day. If you want a quiet honeymoon vibe this is the wrong hotel; if you want surf-trip community this is the right one.
Book here if you're on a surf trip to Lombok at any skill level, you value surf logistics over hotel polish, and you want the convenience of in-house lessons, coaches, board hire, and daily transfers. Strong for solo surf travellers, surf groups of 2–6 friends, and surf-school students learning their first weeks.
Skip if you're not surfing (the product is built for surfers), if you want a romantic boutique vibe (try Selong Selo or Jiwa Jiwa Villa), or if you want resort-level amenities (Pullman Mandalika or Novotel deliver more).
