Central Senggigi beachfront
★ 4.0(2,840 reviews)
Senggigi Beach Hotel is one of Lombok's longest-running beachfront resorts, opened in 1989 with 148 cottages and bungalows spread across 12 hectares of beachfront grounds in central Senggigi. Rooms run 800,000–1,800,000 IDR per night. The property is dated but the location, scale and beachfront access are strong — a solid mid-range pick for travellers who value beachfront over fashion.
# Senggigi Beach Hotel: The Original Senggigi Beachfront Resort
Senggigi Beach Hotel opened in 1989 as one of the first international-standard resorts in Lombok and was the property that established Senggigi as a tourist destination. Three decades later it remains one of the largest beachfront properties in central Senggigi — scale and location are its strongest features even as some of the cottages show their age.
The hotel is locally owned and managed under the Aerowisata group (an Indonesian hospitality company affiliated with Garuda Indonesia). The property has gone through several refurbishment waves but the original 1989 layout — low-rise cottages spread across 12 hectares of beachfront — remains intact.
The product is what you would expect from a long-running mid-range Indonesian beach resort: large grounds, multiple pools, multiple restaurants, full-service infrastructure, and uneven maintenance.
Three main categories. Garden Cottages are the entry option (800,000–1,100,000 IDR) — set in the back of the grounds with garden views. Superior Cottages are closer to the beach with partial sea views (1,100,000–1,400,000 IDR). Beachfront Cottages face the sea directly with terraces a few metres from the high-tide line (1,400,000–1,800,000 IDR).
For most stays, the Superior Cottages are the obvious choice — meaningfully closer to the beach and pools without the front-row premium. Beachfront Cottages are worth the upgrade only if you specifically want sea views from your terrace.
Critically: ask which block your cottage is in at booking. The recently refurbished blocks (2022–2024) feel modern; the un-refurbished blocks feel their age. This is a meaningful difference.
Senggigi Beach Hotel is on Senggigi's main beachfront, with the property occupying the northern half of central Senggigi Beach. From the hotel: 10-minute walk south to the Senggigi village strip (restaurants, bars, night market), 25 minutes by car to Bangsal harbour for Gili boats, 90 minutes to Lombok International Airport.
The hotel beach is a long sandy stretch with shallow swimming entry — the best central Senggigi beach access. Sunsets here are excellent year-round.
The beachfront is the property's strongest feature. Long sandy beach, shallow entry, well-spaced sun loungers, beachfront grill restaurant for daytime lunches. The 12-hectare grounds mean the property never feels crowded even at full occupancy — cottages are well-spaced and there are multiple quiet corners.
Two swimming pools cover different moods: the main pool is large and family-orientated; the second pool by the older cottages is quieter and more adult-orientated. Both are well-maintained.
Three on-site restaurants give meaningful dining variety on-property. The main restaurant runs an Indonesian-Western menu; the beachfront grill is the daytime lunch and casual dinner spot; the pool deck does light meals and cocktails. None are destinations but together they cover all meal occasions adequately. Mains run 100,000–250,000 IDR. Many guests walk to the village strip for dinner variety.
The cottages are where the property's age shows most. Recently refurbished blocks have modern bathrooms, strong air-con, hot showers, in-room safes, and reliable Wi-Fi. Un-refurbished blocks have dated bathrooms, sometimes weaker air-con, and patchy Wi-Fi. The room rate doesn't differentiate between blocks — this is a request-at-booking issue rather than a price-differentiated tier.
Service is the property's other strength. Many staff have been at the hotel for 15+ years, speak fluent English, and treat repeat guests as family. The concierge handles Gili day trips, Lombok touring, spa bookings, and onward transfers efficiently.
The spa is competent but unremarkable — traditional Indonesian treatments at 400,000–700,000 IDR for 90 minutes. Tennis courts and fitness area are well-maintained.
Book here if you want a beachfront mid-range resort in central Senggigi at honest pricing, you value scale and beachfront access over polish, and you're a couple or family on a 2–4 night Senggigi stay. Strong for travellers transiting through Senggigi and using it as a base for Gili day trips and north-coast excursions.
Skip if you want a fully refurbished modern hotel without compromise (Sheraton Senggigi or Holiday Resort Lombok do that), if you want luxury (Qunci Villas in nearby Mangsit is the right choice), or if Wi-Fi speed is critical (request a refurbished block near reception or look at Avani in Mataram).
