South Sekotong, southwest Lombok
★ 4.5(680 reviews)
Cocotinos Sekotong is a small boutique dive resort with 18 traditionally-styled cottages on the southern Sekotong coast, with rooms from 2,200,000 to 4,800,000 IDR per night. It's part of the Singapore-based Cocotinos dive group and runs a serious PADI 5-Star dive centre. The product is dive-trip-led rather than beach-holiday-led, which makes it a focused choice for divers and an awkward one for non-divers.
# Cocotinos Sekotong: Boutique Dive Resort with House Reef
Cocotinos Sekotong is the Lombok property of the Singapore-based Cocotinos boutique dive group, which also runs sister resorts in Manado (Sulawesi) and previously in Bali. Opened in 2010, the Sekotong property occupies a small bay on the southern coast and was purpose-built around the dive product.
Singaporean ownership, internationally-managed, with a clear dive-resort identity. The Cocotinos brand attracts a regional Asian and European diver clientele; the resort feels distinctly different from the Australian-leaning surf-and-party Gili scene further north.
Three cottage tiers. Hill View Cottages (entry, 2,200,000–2,800,000 IDR) are upper-row units with garden and partial sea views. Sea View Cottages (2,800,000–3,800,000 IDR) sit lower with proper ocean views and shorter walks to the beach. Premier Cottages (3,800,000–4,800,000 IDR) are the largest units, beachfront-line, with extended terraces.
For divers, the Sea View Cottage is the right call — close enough to the dive centre and beach for easy gear-shuffling, ocean views from the room, and not paying the Premier premium for floor space you won't use after diving exhausts you.
South Sekotong, on Pandanan Bay, about 5km north of Ocean's Heaven Resort and reached by the same coastal road. From Cocotinos: 50 minutes to Lembar harbour, 90 minutes to Senggigi, 90 minutes to Kuta Lombok, 120 minutes to Lombok International Airport.
The road in is rough but slightly better than the access to Ocean's Heaven — the final 5km from the main Sekotong road has been partially resealed in 2024. Resort transfer remains the best option in either direction.
The dive operation is the genuine reason to book Cocotinos. PADI 5-Star certification, in-house instructors, well-maintained rental gear, two purpose-built dive boats, and a smart twice-daily dive schedule. Open Water courses run 6,500,000 IDR (4 days, all gear and certification included). Single fun dives are 950,000 IDR; multi-dive packs drop the per-dive cost to around 700,000 IDR.
The house reef is the operational standout. From the resort beach you can shore-dive a 5–18 metre depth profile with reasonable coral coverage and consistent reef-fish populations. This is unusual on Lombok and useful for guests doing skill refreshers or short check dives without spending a day on the boat.
Boat dive sites include the Secret Gilis (Nanggu, Sudak, Kedis) and the Belongas Bay area to the south, where bigger pelagics like reef sharks and rays show up seasonally. Belongas requires advanced certification and a longer boat ride; the Secret Gili sites suit all certification levels.
The kitchen serves a competent Asian-international menu with attention to seafood and a workable vegetarian section. Mains 130,000–280,000 IDR. Breakfast is included; many guests do a half-board package given the absence of off-resort dining within 30 minutes.
Cottages are spacious and clean but the interior aesthetics feel slightly dated — wood furniture in a generic tropical style rather than the design-led look of Senggigi peers. For divers this won't matter; for non-divers booking on price comparison alone, the visual gap shows up immediately.
The resort beach has rocky patches that limit casual swimming compared to the sandier coves at Ocean's Heaven 5km south. The pool covers swimming for non-divers, but if a long sandy beachfront walk matters, this isn't the property for it.
Book Cocotinos for divers — beginners doing Open Water courses through advanced divers chasing south Lombok dive sites — and for couples where one partner dives daily and the other is happy with a quiet beach-and-pool day. Strong value for serious dive holidays of 5+ nights with packaged multi-dive deals.
Skip Cocotinos for non-diving beach holidays, for design-conscious luxury travellers, for short stays of 2–3 nights, and for guests who want easy access to off-resort dining and activities.
