# Avani Lombok Resort Mataram: City-Edge Four-Star
Avani Lombok Resort opened in 2022 as the first Avani-branded hotel in Lombok and one of the newest internationally-managed properties on the island. Avani is the lifestyle four-star brand of Minor Hotels (the Thai-based group that also operates Anantara), and the Mataram property is positioned as a polished urban-edge hotel rather than a beach resort.
Minor Hotels brings international-chain standards: consistent housekeeping, trained service staff, reliable systems, and modern design. The Avani brand specifically targets the four-star lifestyle market — meaningful step up from local independent hotels but priced below the five-star Anantara properties.
The Lombok Avani is the brand's first foothold on the island and serves a different audience than the resort properties at Senggigi or Mandalika.
Three categories. Avani Rooms are the entry option (850,000–1,200,000 IDR) — modern 32-sqm rooms with king or twin beds and city views. Avani Pool View Rooms are similar size with pool-facing balconies (1,100,000–1,400,000 IDR). Avani Suites add a separate sitting area and a larger bathroom (1,500,000–1,800,000 IDR).
For one-night business stops or airport transits, the Avani Rooms deliver everything you need. For 2+ nights, the Pool View Rooms add a meaningful balcony for negligible extra cost. Suites are oversized for most use cases — book only if you need a dedicated work area.
Avani Lombok is on the western edge of Mataram, on the bypass road that connects the Lombok International Airport (south) to Senggigi (north). This is a deliberately practical location: 45 minutes to the airport, 15 minutes to Senggigi village, 25 minutes to Bangsal harbour for Gili boats, and a 5-minute drive to the Mataram CBD if you have business or shopping needs.
The area itself is a mix of residential and commercial — modern apartment complexes, a few shopping centres, and the recently-developed Mataram bypass corridor. There is no beach within walking distance and no significant evening dining strip near the hotel.
The rooms are the strongest feature. They feel genuinely new — 2022-build standards with strong air-con, hot showers, in-room safes, large modern bathrooms, comfortable beds, and consistently fast Wi-Fi. This is not always the case in Lombok where many "four-star" hotels are 10–15 years old and showing it.
The pool is large and well-maintained, with a sun terrace and pool bar. Sun loungers are plentiful. The pool is rarely crowded except during business-conference days.
The on-site restaurant (Pantry) runs an all-day menu with breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast is included for most rates and is good — buffet with eggs to order, fresh fruit, pastries, Indonesian options, juices. Lunch and dinner mains run 100,000–250,000 IDR. The restaurant is functional rather than memorable; for variety, the Mataram CBD is a 10-minute drive with much better local food options.
Business facilities are genuinely good for Lombok. The business centre has print/scan/copy services, the meeting rooms accommodate up to 80 people, and the Wi-Fi handles video calls reliably. This is the strongest base on Lombok for visiting business travellers, NGO staff, and government meetings.
The biggest decision factor is whether you want a beach hotel or a city hotel. Most leisure visitors to Lombok want a beach — and for them, Senggigi (15 minutes north of Avani) or Mandalika (90 minutes south) deliver a much better experience. Avani makes sense for visitors with Mataram-specific business, multi-day airport stopovers, or travellers who prefer reliable urban hotels to beach resorts.
