Lombok Fast Boat Express operates a modern, well-maintained fast boat service between Teluk Nare harbor (northwest Lombok) and the three Gili islands, running multiple daily departures in both directions. This is the most reliable public boat operator on the route, with a strong safety record and boats that are cleaner and better equipped than many competitors. The boats are covered speedboats seating 40-50 passengers with life jackets, a working GPS, radio communication, and a captain who actually slows down in rough conditions. Departures from Teluk Nare run at 8:30am, 11:00am, 1:30pm, and 4:00pm. Return boats from Gili Trawangan depart at 8:00am, 10:30am, 1:00pm, and 3:30pm, stopping at Gili Air en route. The crossing to Gili Air takes approximately 10 minutes and to Gili Trawangan about 20 minutes. Tickets cost IDR 85,000 per person one way to Gili Air and IDR 100,000 to Gili Trawangan. Return tickets offer a small discount. Luggage is included in the price but oversized items like surfboards may incur an additional charge of IDR 50,000. The ticket counter at Teluk Nare is clearly signposted — buy directly from the counter and ignore the touts who will approach you in the parking lot offering "special deals" (they are middlemen adding commission). The harbor at Teluk Nare is about 30 minutes from Senggigi and 45 minutes from Mataram by car. Parking at the harbor costs IDR 10,000 per day for motorbikes. The boats can get busy during peak season (July-August), so arriving 30 minutes before departure is advisable.
