# Lombok Best Time to Visit Finder
Choosing when to visit Lombok is one of the most important travel decisions you'll make. The wrong month can mean washed-out rainy-season trips or crushed-crowds peak-season experiences. The right month can deliver the best weather, the best prices, and the best fit for your specific priorities.
This tool helps you find that right month by matching your priorities to real data about weather, crowds, prices, and activity windows across all 12 months of the year.
The Best Time Finder uses five inputs:
1. Main activity priority: What you most want to do on your trip
2. Budget sensitivity: How flexible you are on pricing
3. Crowd tolerance: Whether you want the peak energy or peaceful solitude
4. Date flexibility: Whether you can travel any month or have constraints
5. Special interests: Specific sub-priorities like photography, solo travel, family travel
Based on these inputs, the tool recommends 1–3 optimal months with specific week windows and explains why each choice fits your priorities.
The recommendations are based on real Lombok data:
Weather: Monthly temperature, rainfall, humidity, and sea conditions from historical averages. Dry season (April–October) vs rainy season (November–March) is the major divide, but within each season there are meaningful variations that affect specific activities.
Crowd patterns: European summer holidays (June–September), Australian school holidays (June–early July, September), Chinese New Year (varies), Christmas/New Year (mid-Dec to early Jan), Indonesian holidays (Eid al-Fitr, Independence Day), and local events. These determine how crowded each specific week is.
Pricing trends: Low season (January, February, March, November, December 1–20), shoulder season (April, May, September, October), peak season (June–August, December 22–January 2). Prices vary 30–40% between low and peak.
Activity windows: Some activities are only viable in specific months. Mount Rinjani trekking: April–November. Peak surf: May–October. Best dive visibility: May–June and September–October. Manta ray season: October–December at Belongas. Etc.
Beach + swim priority, budget flexible: April 15–30 or September 15–30
Budget travelers, any activity: Late March or December 1–15 (rainy risk)
Rinjani trekkers: September or October for peak conditions with fewer crowds
Surfers: Late June or August 20–September 10 for swell + lower prices
Divers: October 1–15 for peak visibility
First-time visitors: May or September for the best all-rounder experience
Fixed July dates: Book 3 months ahead, accept peak pricing, embrace the scene
Most Lombok travelers end up in July or August by default, because those are the "summer break" months for European and Australian schools. This is usually fine but rarely optimal. For travelers with date flexibility, shifting to May or September delivers objectively better trips — same weather, fewer crowds, lower prices. The tool helps you realize this quickly.
Run the tool before booking flights. If you discover that your priorities suggest September rather than July, check if your flight dates are flexible. Often a $50 flight change saves $300+ in accommodation costs and delivers a better experience. The tool is most useful 4–6 months before your intended trip — early enough to change plans based on its recommendations.
