Gili Air's coziest all-day breakfast and coffee spot

Ruby's Cafe is a charming little spot on Gili Air that has built a devoted following among the island's regular visitors. The cafe focuses on doing simple things exceptionally well: the coffee is properly made with good beans, the banana pancakes are fluffy and served with real maple syrup, the eggs are always cooked exactly as requested, and the fresh fruit juices taste like they were pressed 30 seconds ago — because they were. The space is small and intimate, with a handful of tables under a thatched roof and colorful cushions that invite lingering. The owner, a Lombok local who trained as a barista in Bali, brings genuine pride to every cup. Beyond breakfast, the lunch menu includes wraps, salads, and a surprisingly good tuna melt. They also bake their own cakes and pastries — the chocolate brownie is obscenely good. Prices are very fair for the Gilis: breakfast plates IDR 30,000-55,000, coffees IDR 20,000-35,000. WiFi is basic but functional. The cafe has a small library of books and board games, making it a lovely rainy-day hangout. Ruby's does not try to be anything fancy — it just delivers honest, well-made food in a warm atmosphere, and that simplicity is exactly what makes it special.
