Ashtari

Perched high on the hillside above Kuta, Ashtari offers what might be the best dining view in all of Lombok — a sweeping panorama across Kuta Bay, Selong Belanak, and the surrounding green hills that is absolutely jaw-dropping, especially at sunset. The restaurant is part of a larger wellness complex that includes yoga shalas, a boutique hotel, and lush tropical gardens. The food is predominantly healthy and plant-forward: think Buddha bowls, wood-fired pizzas, fresh salads with ingredients from their own garden, and excellent smoothies. The menu caters well to vegetarians and vegans without alienating meat-eaters — the grilled fish and chicken satay are also very good. Prices reflect the premium location and quality: expect IDR 65,000-120,000 for mains. The portions are generous. Coffee is decent but not specialty-level. Getting to Ashtari requires navigating a steep, winding road up the hillside — drive carefully, especially on a scooter. The restaurant gets busy at sunset, so arrive by 5pm if you want a prime table. No reservations for the restaurant, but yoga classes should be booked in advance. The staff are warm and attentive. There is ample parking at the top. This is a must-visit even if you only eat here once during your trip.
