North Lombok 3-Day Itinerary: Waterfalls, Rinjani Views & Highland Culture

Day 1: The Famous Waterfalls
North Lombok's crown jewels are its waterfalls. The drive from Senggigi to Senaru climbs through increasingly lush forest as the road winds up Rinjani's northern slopes. Sendang Gile is a dramatic 30-meter cascade reached by a 20-minute walk. The spray creates a cool mist that refreshes after the drive.
Tiu Kelep, 45 minutes further upriver, involves crossing the river multiple times. A guide is recommended. The 42-meter waterfall surrounded by dense jungle justifies every step. The natural pool invites swimming in refreshingly cold water.
Visit the traditional Senaru village for highland Sasak culture, then watch sunset with Rinjani's summit as backdrop.
Day 2: Highland Exploration
Explore beyond the main tourist sites with additional waterfalls and the ancient Bayan Beleq mosque compound. The north coast road offers dramatic ocean views with very few tourists and authentic coastal fishing villages.
Day 3: Pusuk Pass & Return
The mountain road through Pusuk Pass features monkeys, forest, and valley panoramas. Suranadi Temple sits in ancient forest with freshwater springs. Mataram's Ampenan Old Town reveals multicultural heritage in the old harbor district.
