North Gili Air, beachfront near Sunset Point
★ 4.6(98 reviews)
Gili Air Flow Studio is a small beachfront yoga shala on Gili Air's quieter north side, with two daily drop-in classes (130–150k IDR) and direct sunset views. Less famous than H2O or Flowers & Fire, more relaxed atmosphere, walking distance from north-side accommodation.
# Gili Air Flow Studio: The North Side Alternative
Most travelers stay on the south or east side of Gili Air — that's where the harbor is, where most restaurants and bars cluster, and where H2O and Flowers & Fire operate. The north side is quieter. Fewer accommodations, fewer cafes, less foot traffic. Gili Air Flow Studio is the north-side yoga option: smaller, less famous, more relaxed.
If you're staying at one of the north-side bungalow properties (Slow Gili Air, Pondok Santi, Manta Dive Bungalows), this is your walkable yoga.
Open-air bamboo platform directly on the north beach. Capacity 15 mats. The studio faces west — the 5pm class catches sunset directly through the open frontage, with no buildings or trees blocking the view. This is honestly the best sunset yoga setup on Gili Air, just less famous than the alternatives.
Mats and basic props (blocks, straps) provided. No bolsters — bring your own if you need one for restorative work. Water cooler. Cubbies for shoes. Toilets in a separate building 20m back.
Two classes daily, six days a week (closed Mondays):
Drop-in is 130,000 IDR for morning, 150,000 IDR for sunset. A 5-class punch card runs 580,000 IDR. Cash only — there's no card terminal.
The studio runs with two consistent teachers — a long-term Indonesian instructor and a rotating foreign teacher. This consistency is unusual on the Gilis (most studios have higher turnover) and means the morning classes especially have a steady, recognisable style. Vinyasa is moderate intensity, not power yoga. Yin is genuinely yin (long passive holds, not just slow vinyasa rebranded).
The three Gili Air yoga studios serve different segments:
Choose Flow Studio if you're staying north-side, if you want a less crowded class, or if budget is a factor (cheaper than the famous spots without sacrificing class quality).
If you've never stayed on north Gili Air: it's quieter than the rest of the island. Sunset is your main entertainment. There are 3–4 restaurants within walking distance and a small handful of bars. The vibe is more couples and solo travelers seeking calm than party crowd.
The studio fits this context. People come for the sunset class, watch the actual sunset from the beach immediately after, and walk 5 minutes to dinner. It's a built-in evening rhythm.
Walk-in welcome — no booking required for regular classes. Arrive 10 minutes early. Mats are first-come; the back row fills last so if you want a spot in front (closer to the teacher), arrive 15 minutes early.
The 5pm class fills more reliably than 7:30am — sunset timing is the draw. In peak season (July, August) it can fill 10 minutes before start. Low season is rarely a problem.
Book Gili Air Flow Studio if you're staying on the north side of Gili Air. Book if you want sunset yoga in a less crowded setting than Flowers & Fire. Book if you prefer consistent teachers over rotating instructors.
Skip Flow Studio if you want retreat packages (book H2O), if you need Monday classes (the studio is closed), or if class variety matters (only vinyasa and yin offered, no aerial or hot yoga).
