The mart's pricing is roughly 30–60% above what you'd pay at the source village. For example:

• A medium Sukarara songket sarong: village price 1.5M IDR, mart price 2.2–2.4M IDR.
• A Banyumulek burnished black vase: village price 200k IDR, mart price 320–350k IDR.
• A Beleka carved mask: village price 400k IDR, mart price 600–700k IDR.

This markup covers showroom rent, staff, curation, and the convenience of single-stop shopping. It's a fair markup — the mart isn't gouging tourists, it's running a real retail operation. The honest framing is: you're paying for retail convenience.

If you're going to visit the villages anyway, skip the mart. If you're not, the mart is a sensible compromise.

For purchases above 2M IDR, the mart arranges international shipping via DHL or FedEx with insurance. Costs:

• Small parcel (single textile, small pottery): 800k–1.5M IDR to Europe/US.
• Medium box (multiple pieces, medium pottery): 1.5–3M IDR.
• Large or fragile shipments (large pottery, multiple ceramics): professional crating quoted individually, typically 3–8M IDR for the crate plus airfreight or sea freight charges.

Customs duties on art and craft imports vary by country. The mart provides itemized documentation. For genuine art purchases, some countries (US, Australia) have lower duty rates than for general imports.

Indonesia operates a tourist VAT refund (PPN) scheme for purchases above certain thresholds. The mart issues qualifying receipts. Key requirements:

• Total minimum to claim: 5,000,000 IDR cumulative across receipts.

Visit Lombok Handicraft Mart if you have limited time and can't drive to the source villages, or if you specifically want fixed pricing and shipping logistics. Skip if you have time to visit the actual craft villages — you'll get better prices, more variety, and a far more meaningful cultural experience by going to Sukarara, Banyumulek, and Masbagik directly. The mart is a convenience option, not a destination.
