Mandalika beachfront (10 minutes east of Kuta center)
★ 4.5(540 reviews)
Kuta Beach Club at Mandalika is South Lombok's only true upscale beach club — infinity pool, day beds, sunset DJ sets, and an attached restaurant that runs from breakfast through late dinner. Day-bed minimum spend is 500,000 IDR; cocktails run 130,000–200,000 IDR. Open 9am to midnight. The closest thing in Lombok to a Bali-style beach club experience.
# Kuta Beach Club Mandalika: Lombok's One True Beach Club
Lombok has surfer pubs, sunset cocktail bars, beach bars on the Gilis, and a small mainland nightlife scene in Senggigi. What it doesn't really have — outside of one venue — is the Bali-style beach club experience. The infinity pool, the day beds, the sunset DJ sessions, the polished service standards, the seamless transition from beach swim to sunset cocktails to dinner without leaving the property.
Kuta Beach Club at Mandalika is the exception. It's positioned as South Lombok's answer to Potato Head or Ku De Ta in Seminyak, and while it doesn't quite reach the scale or the international name recognition, it delivers the format properly.
Beachfront property on the Mandalika coast about 10 minutes east of central Kuta Lombok. The compound includes an infinity pool fronting the beach, a row of day beds (some pool-side, some beachfront), a beach bar, an indoor restaurant, a spa, and direct beach access for guests who want to walk on the sand or swim in the sea.
Day passes work on a minimum spend system rather than entrance fees. Day bed minimum spend is 500,000 IDR per bed (typically holds 2–3 people). This effectively means you commit to lunch and drinks across the day. Walk-in for the bar or restaurant is free without a day bed.
Opens 9am with breakfast service. Pool and beach access available immediately. By noon the day beds fill with mostly couples and small groups settling in for the afternoon. Lunch service runs through to 3pm with substantial Western and Indonesian menus.
Sunset DJ starts at 5pm. By 6pm the energy peaks with the beachfront crowd watching the sun drop and the DJ building from chill house through deeper grooves. Sunset itself is between 5:45pm and 6:30pm depending on season.
After sunset (7pm onward) the day-bed crowd shifts to dinner mode. Dinner service runs through 11pm. The bar continues to midnight close.
For visitors not committing to a full day, the most efficient visit is sunset only — arrive at 5pm, drink at the bar (no minimum spend without a bed), watch the sunset DJ set, leave by 8pm.
Cocktails run 130,000–200,000 IDR. The cocktail program is competent resort-tier — well-made margaritas, espresso martinis, signature creations using local ingredients. Try the Mandalika Margarita (160k with chili-rim and fresh local lime), the Beach Club Spritz (140k), or the Pineapple Smash (150k).
Bintang large bottle is 60,000 IDR. Premium beer (Heineken, Corona) runs 90,000 IDR. Wine is available with a proper list — house white at 90k per glass, premium options up to 180k, full bottles starting at 600k IDR.
Food is the strongest of any South Lombok beach venue. Indonesian highlights: ayam taliwang (160k), beef rendang with coconut rice (180k), grilled red snapper sambal matah (260k), nasi campur with multiple proteins (140k). Western: thin-crust pizza (180–250k), pasta (180–230k), grilled tuna steak (320k), beef tenderloin (350k), Caesar salad (140k). Quality is genuinely good — properly trained kitchen, fresh ingredients, careful execution.
Polished. Service is attentive without being intrusive. The crowd skews older and more affluent than the Kuta surfer-pub scene — couples on Lombok holiday choosing the Mandalika luxury resort area, honeymoon couples, occasional digital-nomad professional crowd, weekend visitors from Mataram who can afford the day-bed spend.
International mix is broad — Australians, Europeans, Indonesian Jakarta visitors, occasional Asian luxury travelers (Korean, Singaporean, Hong Kong). Median age 30s to 50s. Smart casual to dressed-up — flip-flops fine but you'll see real shoes and dresses.
Solo travelers are rare here — the beach club format is built around couples and groups. Solo female travelers report Kuta Beach Club as very comfortable but slightly isolating socially because of the pair-and-group dynamic.
The sunset DJ slot is the venue's distinguishing programming. DJs are typically Bali-circuit names with European tour history — chill house through to deeper grooves, building energy through sunset and into the early evening. The music quality is genuinely good for Lombok and approaches the standard you'd find at Bali beach clubs.
Special guest DJ events happen monthly — these are advertised on the venue's Instagram and tend to push the energy higher and run later (sometimes to 1am rather than midnight close).
Mandalika location is 10 minutes east of central Kuta Lombok by motorbike or Grab. Most central Kuta accommodations can arrange a hotel shuttle on request. Grab and motorbike taxi options exist (15,000–50,000 IDR depending on distance).
Cash and card both work — one of the few South Lombok venues with a reliable card terminal. Day-bed reservations strongly recommended for weekends and holiday periods; book via Instagram or WhatsApp 1–2 days ahead.
If you want a proper beach club day in Lombok — only real option. If you want sunset cocktails with DJ sets in an upscale setting. If you want the most polished service standards in South Lombok. If you're on a couples or honeymoon trip and want a beach-club day experience.
Skip Kuta Beach Club if budget matters (this is the most expensive nightlife in South Lombok), if you want the authentic surf-town atmosphere (head back to the central Kuta strip), if you're traveling solo and want easy social interaction (couples-and-groups dominant), or if you can't manage transport from central Kuta.
